RouterBoard 711 utiliza o sistema MikroTik. CPU de 400 MHz e capacidade de memória RAM grandes (32 MB) assegurar o poder de computação de alto necessário para a criação de backbones de alta capacidade de rede sem fio. SOHO aparelhos mais baratos normalmente têm capacidade de memória RAM de até 16 MB, o que não é suficiente para o backbone da rede, mas adequado apenas para redes de acesso sem fio.
